OGA handicaps will apply to ensure fair competition between vessels of varying size, type and rig. In addtition, within Class 1 will be the former sailing trawlers racing for the King's Cup. These must be over forty registered tons, gaff ketch rigged, and able to prove that they have in the past been registered for commercial fishing. No handicap - first over the line wins. PY handicaps to apply All gaff rigged vessels are handicapped using the Old Gaffers Association system to give a Time Correction Factor (TCF) that is applied to the elapsed time for each vessel. Bermudian rigged vessels use a Portsmouth Yardstick handicap system. Class 6 - Other Cruising Yachts over 30 years old Other Information In addition to the handicap racing, former sailing trawlers (gaff ketch rigged, over 40 tons, previously registered for fishing) will be racing in class 1 for the King George V Cup, which will be won by the first sailing trawler across the line. It is essential that all vessels wishing to enter, including former sailing trawlers, return an entry form, completed with all details and measurement information, to the organisers before the start of the event, in order that the TCF can be calculated. Entry fees are very reasonable (£10 - £25) and include pontoon berthing in Brixham on the Friday and Saturday nights and in the Dart on Thursday night only Entry forms can be obtained by contacting Brixham Heritage Sailing (see the contact us page) or can be downloaded by clicking the links below.
